1986 tilt switch is bad, fix or add a new one

For some reason on my throttle the tilt/trim switch has gone out. It will go down, but not up. I hate messing with electrical, so in my head its easier to disconnect and add a new switch beside throttle. Good idea or a bad lazy *** idea?

I noticed at the end of last season....my front pontoon had water in them. I found where I have a weld crack, it seems to be on one of the braces that hold the floor. Motor Pod, How to determine how much weight it can/will hold?

My pontoon is set up for up to I believe 135hp max, I have a 1991 Monarch 24ft. Since motor weights can vary in weight from years to year and also in brands. I know a newer Mercury 125 is almost the same weight as the 150hp, but I wasn't sure if they are the same weight as say an early 80's...

    92 Monark 24ft - Putting a bigger motor on

I have a 24ft pontoon. It says I can put up to a 125 motor on this. I have a friend giving me a 150 merc.. The weight difference isn't any from a 125 to a 150, but yes the force from the bigger motor would be a big difference. I could govern the motor so it will never peak the max speed though...
