    Volvo Penta Waterpump

Hi, There's a thread (http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=240368) which talks about a leaking water pump. The reply stating it was fixed was "I got it off. There were 3 allen head screws holding the pump to the harmonic balancer. Got a new seal for $3.00. -Beats $300 for a new pump."...

Garmin GFS10 Fuel Sensor - no reading tank

Hi, Has anyone had any experience with the relatively new GFS10 fuel sensor from Garmin? I've had it installed and on the 2nd attempt, the marine electrician found out that there is an accessory cable required of some description to make it read the flow correctly. So now I have the flow rate...

VP 5.7 Flame Arrestor or Air filter?

Hi, My 2003 VP 5.7Gi-b has what I think is a flame arrestor on top of the engine but doesn't appear to have any air filter. The arrestor looks like a metal air filter but I'm wondering should it have something inside it or should I remove it and place an air filter on it? Kind Regards, David.

VP 5.7gxi Seapump died again - Possible causes?

Hi, In April the sea pump died so I had a local repair shop have a look. The fan belt was shredded and there was salt water spewed all over the engine bay. They said that because there was no corrossion (thanks Neutrasalt!) that they could refurbish it with a new bearing, seals and impellor and...

Volvo 5.7 EFI - Correct 'muffs' procedure

Hi, My boat is dry stacked so doesn't live in the water full time. Because of this I try and either flush it or use Neutra salt after each run. When I first got the boat, I installed the muffs over the leg intake and would start it but I couldn't get water to flow out through the bellows. Some...

Inverter turns on, Stove goes 12v live

Hi, I've recently had some electrical work done on the boat which included adding new house batteries, Voltage Sensitive Relay and installing a DC meter. After numerous problems with the DC meter which were finally rectified, I'm loathe to go back to the shop who did the work for fear something...

    Is this prop dead?

Hi, Recently I collected a crab pot with the duo props. I removed the outer prop and got rid of the line and noticed there is a bump on the prop - is this fixable or is it dead or do I need to send it to a shop? Also, when I torqued up the propellor nut (manual said 70 to 80fp so I used 75...

    VP 5.7 Fuel Flow Meter

Hi, I recently asked the marine electrician if he could install a fuel flow meter/sensor on my 5.7 GI VP but he said that as it was EFI there was no meter available that he was aware of. Apparently the problem (as he explained it to me) is that the ECU requests a goop of fuel and pressurises it...

Which model VP leg? Need to remove props

Hi, Looks like the weekend run has resulted in me picking up a crab pot as when the boat was lifted, the leg has a swag of crab pot rope wrapped around the base of the leg and between the Duo Props. When I got home, I checked the manual about how to remove the props only to be confronted with...

    2003 5.7GXI Volvo Belt/Corrosion problem

Hi, I noticed today during a regular inspection that the main belt on my 2003 VP 5.7GXI has started fraying - bits of belt through the engine bay and looking generally sad. In the workshop manual, I can't find any reference to a part number or how to replace it. Searching through the forums...

Volvo Penta 5.7gxi Duo Prop (2003)

Hi, This is probably going to sound like a daft question but I'm hoping someone can help! I've purchased an Australian Mustang 2800 which has a 5.7gx (or gxi) Volve Penta Duo Prop. It's a 2003 build and its fuel injected and I know the leg is a duo prop but apart from that, I'm a little stuck on...
