I have 2005 90 HP Johnson that won't start. It turns over but won't start. Dealer says it is the encoder. How does the encoder work with these engines? I believe it controls the firing timing but not sure exactly how. Why would it go bad with less than 50 hours on it?

I need to replace the sender unit in my 1993 Sunbird. Where can I get a replacement for it? How do I get the correct replacement part number (mounting screw pattern, diameter, length, etc.)?
I have a 1993 Sunbird 170. The gas gage reads empty even with a full take of gas. How can I test the sender? How do I remove it? Do I need to try and find the original or are these universal?
Starter just spins and does not engage with flywheel. I applied WD40 but it is still frozen (won't lift up). Tried to remove the starter to replace the whole thing but starter top upper bolt interferes with carb/air intake. Terrible design. Any suggestions?
