The starter doesn't crank when I turn the key over on the first try and sometimes it takes 3-5 turns before it cranks. It's wierd because all the gauges get...

    Where's oil filter?

I have an 89 mercruiser 5.0 and I can't find the oil filter. Is it possible that there isn't one? The place where I thought it should be(under the water/fuel separator) looks like it just has some sort of bypass. Thanks for any help.

    5.0 Mercruiser engine knocking

In my original post I thought that the problem came after I decarbed with sea foam. The engine only knocks at WOT but if I back off alittle it goes away. One other thing I did was put midgrade gas it the boat when I usually put regular. I changed the plugs thinking that maybe seafoam fouled...

Is there a reason that most chargers I've used say to take batteries out of the boat to charge them. I could see disconnecting from the cables but why take them out?
