Dropped in a reman merc 260.. everything bolted into place.
got it started.. started and ran strong at around 900 rpm.. vacuum gauge read dead solid at 15.. little low but dead solid..
when i throttle back all the way it just died.. didnt run rough just died.. so figured it was an idle...
so dont ask me how this happened.. but it did..
rochester qjet.. so i bent the right needle in my carb while it was in the carb..
so is it safe to assume that this would likely result in serious damage to the needle seat and require a rebuild?
got everything swapped and bolted on to my 1982 merc 260 reman and dropped back into the boat.. started it up yesterday.. it RUNS!!!
had a leak at my therm housing so didnt mess around with it too long..
need to get the idle settings right.. and timing right.. but hoping for the best.. had...

so my boat battery needs replaced id say.. doesnt hold charge long enough to do even one good cylinder.. so if i say run some jumpers from my car battery to boat battery and do the comp test like that.. is that ok? i am sure the readings are affected on the low end due to low battery strength...
