Also if I do the 4.3 should I think about bringing my fuel tank and battery up to the bow? Would it make much difference? 20gal tank 100ah battery is what I have. Thanks.

Okay I’ll see if I can find there build threads. I have been through waterman’s before. I have tossed around this idea for awhile. StarCraft holiday 18ft 3.0 to 4.3 swap, good idea?

I have a 1969 StarCraft holiday and was wanting to do a motor swap on it this winter. Some of you may remember I bought a cracked motor that had a bad detonated piston. Well I welded the block and ran it. Been running for a few years now, but it really struggles with skiing with a boat load...

Mercruiser 3.0 135hp. Crank and rods

Only thing I could think of is maybe natural gas requires higher compression? Or maybe propane.

Mercruiser 3.0 135hp. Crank and rods

Okay took it new machine shop. Crank is getting ground and checked. Found the problem we believe. Two of the rods was not very round. I’m gonna be ordering my kit once I find out the bearings sizes. My question is concerning the piston. Should I keep the pistons that came with the motor. They...

Well that’s what I though lol. He said it will just hold oil be good to go! And here I am again. You are right though I don’t think he ground my crank flat! Holding up the bearing on back side shows daylight and a Little Rocking action.

Mercruiser 3.0 135hp. Crank and rods

No evidence of water. I just pulled it apart. If I put timing to zero it won’t diesel. When I shut off. The compression test is probably not accurate. I agree super high. The mains all look good. That’s a plus I guess ha.

Mercruiser 3.0 135hp. Crank and rods

Any ideas why all my rod bearings look like this? Other than one is fried. To high of compression? I checked compression with my gauge and I got 220-225psi....... it does diesel for awhile when shut off with 91 and timing retarded. Cant win for loosing.

Mercruiser 3.0 135hp. Crank and rods

Also maybe you may know. Why the narrow rod bearings? The rods are the same size. Just narrow bearings. Also this mother r is 10.5 to 1. I’m thinking about rebuilding it with flat top pistons. It has domed pistons right now. Maybe harder on the rod bearings also? It ran well until it brought...

Mercruiser 3.0 135hp. Crank and rods

Well my old boat motor has two bad detonated pistons and two pistons with broke. Skirts. Still pulling skies lol. Pretty good motors in these light boats. So better idea to have the current crank turned? It’s a scat crank.
