    1988 Force 125 forward won't rev more than 2000 rpm

    I just got this older boat 1988 Bayliner Cobra 1800 with Force 125HP outboard 2-cycle motor. Yesteday first time took it to the river. In forward gear it revs only up to 2000 RPM but in reverse it goes to 4200 RPM. Where do I start looking? thanks
