    87 Evinrude 60hp VRO control box grinds when I put into reverse

    My 87 60hp Evinrude VRO control box grinds when I put into reverse. If I push it hard into reverse sometimes it works but mostly it just makes one really loud grinding noise. Should I take it apart and take a look? What should I be looking at or am I wasting my time? Thanks
