    Help help Drive shaft splines to short

    Ok today I got my new drive shaft to rebuild my lower unit but the splines are shorter by about a 1/2" is this going to make a problem for me they go in my motor but I don't know if they are going to go all the way for the lower to make it all the way to bolt it up help

    Will these lower units interchange

    I have a mercury 60hp see number 6550295 with a bad lower get a deal on a lower for a 40 hp ser number g058391 from I I have found it they will work but just want to double check I think the 40 has a 2.1 ratio vs the 1.87 of the 60hp can some one help me here Thanks Will
