    Impeller changed on FT60B

I finally got brave and changed the impeller and all recommended bits using a kit from Yamaha. Cost Aus$63. Easy job and the bits were still in great working order with no corrosion of bolts or inside. I'm a happy and only slightly poorer man financially and a much richer man in knowledge...

    Quintrex paint bubbling

Has anyone else got a problem with bubbling paint? My 2003 cuddy has blistered paint under the windscreen seal, along some of the gunwale joins and the paint's falling off the bases of the hand rails. :(

    Desperately seeking swimsuit!

Ms T found this on one of her horsey forums and I cacked myself... it SOOOO relates to Ms T's dilemna. :D  <br />--------------------------<br />I have just been through the annual pilgrimage of torture and humiliation, known as buying a bathing suit. When I was a child in the 1950's...

Need advice on a 4WD campervan

A friend of mine is in the process of planning a "round the World" driving trip. He figures that most of the World drives on the right side of the road, therefore he wants a left hand drive (LHD) car. He then figured he needs to have a camper that is 4WD and diesel powered. <br />So his...

    Too cute to eat??

Over the weekend I caught a little Wobbegong - also known as Port Jackson shark or "gummy shark". It was well over 75 cm long and weighed about three kg. I've sent Dunaruna a picture to post for me... I've done something stupid with my computer and can't get Photobucket to work. The reason for...

    Alert, alert!

Following the events in London in recent weeks the French government<br />announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from<br />'Run'<br />to<br />'Hide'. <br /><br /><br />The only two higher levels in France are 'Surrender' and<br />'Collaborate'. <br /><br />The rise was...

    Technical problem with my cat...

One year old, ugly as sin and now pooing all over our beds! Four delightful "messages" left all over the doona (no, not Duna!) last night. Have shotgun, but would like a "technical" explanation of why this bl00dy cat poos herself stupid in the most inappropriate places.<br />BTW: there's a...

    Left my transom ladder down!

Had a perfect day... flat water, not much breeze, temperature quite mild for this time of year, followed by an easy retrieval and first time perfect back-up into the driveway (which slopes uphill). Then... scrraaappppe! Arghh, I'd left the transom ladder down and scuffed the lowest rung - taking...

Black Marlin fights back and wins!

Just saw a news article. A young kid hooked up a big Black Marlin and almost got it onto the boat. Just about to land the thing when it leapt out of the water and landed almost on top on the guy in the boat giving him a bloody nose. The guy's sister caught the whole thing on video. <br />Marlin...

XADO Gel additive - is it snakeoil?

My car mechanic is working on Ms Triton's Ford EB-II Falcon 4.0L six running on dual fuel, and he wants to add an additive called XADO gel which he claims really works. The stuff is expensive but if it works like the website claims why aren't we all using it? Look at www.xado.com and please let...

    Ford Falcon problem

Ms Triton owns a 93 EB-II Ford Falcon 4.0L on dual fuel (i.e lpg and petrol). Yesterday she complained it started to run roughly and then it started to steam a bit from the exhaust pipe with a distinct smell of burnt coolant. The temp gauge started to climb but never got near the red sector. We...

    Prop blade out of true

My Yam 2003 FT60 13.5 x 15 original prop has one blade that is about 1mm out of true. The boat goes well, the motor doesn't vibrate and there is no physical damage to the blades... I just noticed this problem today while cleaning the prop. Is it a problem that needs fixing?

    Back on line

Well, after an absence of a month or so I finally figured out why I lost access to iboats. My ISP (Optusnet) says the main Australian ISPs (including IPRIMUS, OPTUSNET and BIGPOND) in the IP address range 210.29 to 210.31 have been blocked by iboats. They (Optusnet) claim they have tried to...

Is it OK to run gearcase oil level slightly low?

I changed the gearcase oil at my 250 hour service of my 03 FT60B Yam and got the level about right - dribbling out of the level plug just as I ran out of oil in the squeeze bottle. Unfortunately I spilled about 50ml (2 oz) of oil when I dropped the lower plug while trying to get it back in! My...

    Proud to be second

My youngest and eldest boys teamed up to sail in the NSW State Junior Heron Sailing Titles last weekend. They oh-so-nearly won the event but confused the last race course instructions and sailed out of the lead (by rounding an extra mark that wasn't part of the course) into second for second...

They'll get what they deserve - 55 years

Here in Sydney we have had some great news. Two Lebanese rapists convicted of a gang rape of a 16-year-old girl had their conviction overturned pending a retrial because it was discovered a juror had conducted some "illegal" lighting level tests at the rape scene without the consent of the...

    Yamaha model number

I have tried to get a workshop manual for my FT60BETL (2003 - the "high thrust" model) but yamaha.com only lists the F60TJRB and the F60TLRB. Is either of these the correct manual? Yamaha Aus are about as useful as a chocolate kettle hence my going to Yam USA.

A sunny day on Sydney Harbour

Despite a fairly ordinary wx forecast, the sun came out and so did the boats. Great fun to celebrate Australia Day this way... we had a blast!<br /> <br />This is the start of the annual Ferrython, a race up the harbour starting from near the Opera House, almost out to the heads and then back...

Start up after a brief layup

I've not run my FT60 Yam for three weeks and we're going out onto the Harbour on Wednesday for the Australia Day celebrations. Anything different I should do? This is the first time I've not used the boat for this length of time (normally twice or three times a week) and I wondered if I should...
