    Lower unit repair

Why is that? I used a hydrofoil first on my Mercury 175EFI and then on my Yamaha F200. Worked extremely well. Great bang for the buck. I did modify mine so that it was clamped on such that I did not have to drill holes. Did that so that if it did not work I could remove it.

2007 Mercury 115 efi (4-stroke) - not charging the battery

Interesting to me that Mercury Marine once used a separate electromagnet alternator on some 115 models and now seems to have changed to the permanent magnet type of alternator.

2007 Mercury 115 efi (4-stroke) - not charging the battery

Given the high costs of labour here in the US, the days of repairing components such as an alternator seem to be long gone. Do marine mechanics even know how to do this today? Easier, faster and more than likely cheaper just to throw a new alternator own. With better assurances that a problem...

2007 Mercury 115 efi (4-stroke) - not charging the battery

You test for output directly at the alternator. With the alternator being connected to a known good battery after having confirmed that the wiring to the battery is in good condition. If there is no or substandard output the modus operandi today is to replace the alternator as one unit. Using an...

2007 Mercury 115 efi (4-stroke) - not charging the battery

You seem to be looking for a permanent magnet alternator which is not used on your model. As noted in the post above, a conventional electromagnet alternator is used. See photo below. The rectifier/regulator is a component within the alternator assembly. Hopefully just the fuse in the fused...

    Dual battery or booster pack?

Without predicting what the failure mode of a dead battery will be in the future, I cannot hazard a guess as to what the results will be. If in a lake right near the marina, go ahead and give it a try. If 50 miles offshore, on a stormy day, when it is getting dark, I would first try starting...

    Dual battery or booster pack?

Two good batteries, yes. If one of the two is defective (not just low on charge) who knows what the outcome may be?

2004 Yamaha 150hp oil sensor light

If the motor was tilted up when started it is not unreasonable to think the pick up tube will be out of the oil. I am still confused as to whether the light stayed lit or not. What light?

2004 Yamaha 150hp oil sensor light

Now that I think about it the OP probably had low oil pressure given that hte started with the motor tilted up. Running the motor down probably alleviated the low oil pressure but the light might have remain lit until the motor was turned off. At the next start cycle the light might not be...

2004 Yamaha 150hp oil sensor light

No oil level sensor. Only an oil pressure sensor. You made no mention of an alarm sounding or the motor going into RPM reduction mode. Usually the light, the alarm and the reduction mode all occur at the same time. Is the light within a Yamaha tachometer or is it a standalone light?

    Dual battery or booster pack?

As a side comment, I would say that if the starting battery failed to do its job of cranking the motor I would not parallel (combine) the two batteries without first seeing if the house battery alone would crank the motor on its own. Although perhaps not likely, it has been observed that...

    Dissapointed in 9.9 4 stroke

The two stroke was firing twice as often at a given RPM.

This doesn’t look right to me

What is your engine serial number? All Mercury models are not the same.

    Dissapointed in 9.9 4 stroke

Although they have been out a while, a 9.9 EFI model does not readily compute. How low in HP will they go? The amount of gasoline injected at idle must be in the nanograms.

    Dissapointed in 9.9 4 stroke

I have seen vibration reducing pads that go between the motor's clamp bracket and the transom. Switching to a propeller with less pitch can help to slow down the minimum idle trolling speed. As can tilting the motor up somewhat to vector the thrust to a less efficient position. Piston engines...

    Yamaha F70LA Tilt Not Working

If the motor did not work why did you buy a relay?

    Yamaha F70LA Tilt Not Working

With the relay power wires disconnected from the relay connect those wires directly to the battery. Does the trim pump motor now work or not? Blue to positive and green to ground the motor will trim up. Green to positive and blue to negative the motor will trim down. Might be a brief spark...

    Selva/Yamaha f60 efi spark issue

Yamaha T60 EFI models use a engine control unit (ECU) assembly. No CDI assy. Stator is not in the loop with respect to ignition. The pulser coil tells the ECU when to terminate the ground to the ignition coil to cause it to discharge electrical power into the spark plug. Is the ECU receiving...

    Question: 115 / 130 V4 yamaha 2 stroke carburator adjustments

Not sure I am following you. If turning the screw outward provides more fuel while turning the screw inward provides less fuel, that equates to it being a fuel/air mixture screw. It varies the fuel/air mixture. But yes, the adjustment is made to achieve best idle characteristics. Fuel/air idle...
