    I have the exact same engine, 2008 4.3 gxi-j, and it makes the same sound, maybe not as pronounced as that, but annoying nonetheless.

    My 2008 4.3gxi had the same noise around 3000 rpms last season. Was really noticeable when skiing. Gear oil looked fine when replaced last fall. Seems to be better this season with fresh oil, only had it out a couple of times so far. Used Lucas M8 oil rather than Volvo oil. Time will tell if...
