with the gear driven cam ,to need a standard dist for clockwise dist rotation, firing order is clockwise from number 1 .
I find it a lot easier to remember to use 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2 in a CCW rotation on the cap instead of 1,2,7,5,6,3,4,8 clockwise.
all depends on the engines cam being chain driven or gear driven.
Even reverse engines use the same std rotation dist because of the oil pump. Will not pump oil if its reversed
If you can trailer up the pump and solenoids are working ,whats not working is the trim limit switch on the transom. Locate the black lamp cord type wire ,unplug from the pump and jumper the pump side with 2 male connectors
If you rotate the prop ccw in fwd then the drive shaft should be turning ccw also. If this is not the case the lower unit is somehow been damaged/broken
I used vice grips to turn the drive shaft and break it free, and now it turns easily clockwise and CCW.
Should not turn easily because of the impeller and you should only turn it in a clockwise direction
When shifted in FWD or reverse, and prop turns as it should. However, when I shift it to...
moisture in the gear oil is not good, if the unit was drained and left empty the bearings could have rusted. Remove the pump top cover and the shaft must turn by hand. If not something got seized
Impeller - brand new (key is in it, lol) it spins freely with the shaft
Once installed in the housing its very hard to just turn by hand.
Most cases are from clogged exaust risers
#1 cylinder on compression stroke, rotate engine until timing mark on balancer is at at 6 degrees, install dist pointing to #1 in the cap or if cap is not marked point to #1cylinder , time accordingly.
recheck compression readings, check for correct firing order
It works better if you tell us...
all depends on your front motor mounts, how you removed the old engine and how you swapped the motor mounts to the new motor
It your mounts are slotted ,loosen the lags/bolts loosen the rear mounts, and shift the motor, then retighten and recheck
a Rochester normal operation is primary with a choke plate, the plate in the rear is the secondary and the actual throttle plates that open are below the plate your moving with your fingers
