    pull starter

    i have a red band 100 hp merc with a pullstarter( & key)but it just free pulls. does it need to be engaged somehow or is it broken.id really like to have it fixed in case i ever need it, also could sombody give me some info on the motor ie. year top speed ect sn is 1539884 thanks

    red band merc popping out of gear

    i have just bought my first boat. it has a 100hp mercury red band motor, the controller is from a blue band motor but seems to work fine. the problem is when you try to go aboue about 10 knots it pops or slips out of gear and free revs. the only way it will go back into gear is to back the revs...
