    Replacing VRO Fuel Pump with Non-VRO

    I have a 2000 Johnson 70 HP (J70PLSSD) motor with a VRO. The VRO has always been disconnected and have only used oil/gas mix. Started having issues with the fuel pump and had it repaired once. A new VRO styled pump will cost between $300 to $450. It looks like I could replace the VRO styled pump...

    '97 70hp

    My 70hp will get up on a plain, run for a while, and then out of no where, shut down to half speed and then rev back to full speed. I believe this may be electrical and nothing to do with the carburetor. I am hoping someone on this forum will give me some info so I can fix it myself.
