    I have the upper gear case separeted from the lower unit and iremoved the 4 1/2" bolts from the swivel housing. I can't get the swivel housing and water pump to come out. My Clymer shop manual says to insert a1/4" steel rod through the steering post and tap lightly against the drive shaft end...

    OMC '85 800 series impeller replacement

    I need some advice on how to remove the swivel housing and water pump from the upprer gear case.My Clymer shop manual says to insert a1/4" steel rod through the steering post and tap lightly, after removing the 4 bolts, of course. Did they leave out a step? If anyone else has run into this...
