    Have you looked at the kit that Yamaha has available for what I am guessing to be your motor? I am not seeing a neutral safety switch in your illustration.

    No solenoid used on that starter motor. A starter motor relay provides battery power to the starter motor.

    What is the complete model identity of the motor? If a four stroke it will start with a T or an F with some other letters that follow the 9.9.

    Yams are not the best pissers known to man. What are using to determine a good **** from a not so good ****? If the motor is not having an excessive temperature event I think your cooling system is just fine. Aging Primestart systems are known to make a motor be hard to start when cold.
