    How do yo utest withOut controls?

    I'm gonna to be picking up an outboard motor and would like to know how to test it without the controls? The ob is a 70hp Johnson if that helps. I will bring a long a fuel tank and a battery and my tools. Can I use jumper cables to spin the starter and do a compression test that way? What else...

    Recommended RPM @ WOT for 83' 70hp Johnson

    I just installed a tach for my OB (83' 70hp Johnson) and would like to know the recommended RPM range I should be at WOT. I've read on here that these motors can rev from 4k-6k. But I never read anything particular to my OB If anyone can help that would be great! Thanks Happy boating!

    Water skiing lakes in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA?

    I just finished restoring my boat and would like to take it out on a lake and have some fun. I've seen a lot of lakes in my area that have 10mph speed limits.. Does anyone know of any lakes in my area (Bay Area) that has a higher speed limit? Thanks for looking. Any help and advice is appreciated!

    How do I rig up a tach to my 70hp Johnny OB?

    I would like to install a tach on my OB but have no clue how. On my controls there is a plug with three wires labels a,b,c. near the ignition key hole. The controls say it's an OMC if that makes a difference. Thanks in advance
