    Sputtering out and dying

Absolutely. this bad boy needs to breathe. I don't run at high speed in a barrel anymore. I used to try to do that before i learned how horrible it is.

    Sputtering out and dying

I am always desperate...this isn't exclusive to motors. This motor is going to be a keeper for me (my back up) so everything being new is ideal. I don't mind putting new parts in to have her muddy river worthy. I will shoot a video and post it to youtube this evening. It will die if i leave...

    Sputtering out and dying

Fuel Starvation was my thinking as well. The tank and hose are the same ones I use on my boat with my 1969. I fished it for about 3 hours straight yesterday, so I'm really confident the tank/hose all work well. I tried hand pumping bulb did same thing. Ive only run motor in barrel, but it would...

    Sputtering out and dying

I have a 1976 Johnson 25 HP outboard. It continues to sputter out and die even after testing and replacing parts. I converted it over the the universal magneto from the low tension magneto because I have all the extra parts (and I like universal magneto better). Motor has brand new points (i...

    Favorite replacement points?

Motor I just bought needs new points. I was wondering which brand is the next to order? I’ve had some mixed results with sierra points in the recent past.

finally got motor out! Ran it up and down the river cir about 90 minutes. I was getting 18-19 mph wot which I think was a little low. I’m going to mess with the tilt first and maybe try a different prop at some point. It idles so nice. I ended up getting a clog out of the fuel pump which took...

What type of gas tank for '79 Johnson 35hp?

I would just get a nice modern plastic tank. I just bought a 6.6 gallon Moeller tank that’s been great so far.

    Have you ever seen this?

I got a new trailer couple weeks ago, and I got a powerdrive trolley motor installed about 3 weeks ago. My rig is basically dialed in and ready to go as soon as the trolley motor is ready to go.

    Have you ever seen this?

Never thought to test it on back of the boat. What a great idea! Fresh set of points, swapped long leg and put new impeller in. Everything seems to run as it should! I’m going to try to get off early to go to the lake south of me this afternoon to run the snot out of this motor!

    Have you ever seen this?

I really thought you were joking about the box fan. I’ve never heard of that one. This motor has been smoking a ton today especially. I’m willing to try anything. I haven’t been able to fish in over a month now. I’ll get motor out to the lake and try to run her. River is closest thing to me...

    Have you ever seen this?

For the spark I’m gonna test my points and condensers with an ohmmeter and clean the points. I have the tool with the front and back arrows that allows me to set the timing with the meter as well. I think this repair will be a little time consuming but pretty easy. The carb sucking...
