    My 1999 carbed Merc 3.0 came to me with a 160 thermostat installed. Had slight dieseling issues and warm start issues for a couple seasons. Eventually swapped it out for a 140 and havnt had any issues since.

    Do you have pictures? Make/model of the boat? Make/model of the engine? Been floating at a marina, private dock, mooring? You are asking a lot of specific questions with very little detail guys in here would need to make those answer worthwhile.

    Going straight at low speed?

    Assuming you’ve got an I/O, you can check the gimbal ring. Mine had gotten a tad loose and once tightened to spec (carefully) it improved the wander at slow speeds greatly for me.

    An overall appreciation post is past due on here. Same for me, over the years all the knowledge has let me do all the fixes and maintainance myself, which in turn has let me afford boating. Those garage costs would have sunk me fast. Thanks especially to all the admins, lot of work and dedication.
