    1991 Chaparral 250SL. What engine is this?

    Manifolds say Volvo, but the rest of the engine looks a bit different than my 97 Volvo 4.3. Owner says recently rebuilt and bored over, but cannot find any numbers on the block anywhere. Can anyone verify if this is volvo, merc, or what, and if 4.3 or what size?

    All my books and manuals say that they need to be done, but don't explain how to do it. They suggest that dealer needs to do it. I don't like that suggestion.
