    Boat keeps porpoising.

LOL! Thankfully I"m not there. It's a good boat, I was just curious as to why I always seem to run trim down more than not to avoid porpoising. I did the tabs on the Sylvan, but I've owned that since new and have replaced the seats, repaired the bow decking, replaced the livewell pump...

    Boat keeps porpoising.

It's true; except at the back where they have 'cut outs' that is supposed to help the hole shot. It isn't a super bad issue, I was mainly just curious. I'd read in the owners manual about how you can trim up and get 'optimum fuel economy and speed' but I never get to what they show in the...

    Boat keeps porpoising.

I have smart tabs on my old boat. When my buddy went out on it he was shocked at the hole shot. Still, I don't have the money for helm adjustables; and honestly don't want to drill into the hull of this one. It's still new and pretty to my mind. :-)

    Boat keeps porpoising.

"Umm it doesn't work that way. The boat tells you where your trim needs to be." "the trim setting is dynamic and controlled by the operator depending on what the boat needs based on speed, load, condition, wind, etc. there is no set it and forget it. Ron Popiel did not invent the trim." Thank...

    Trouble getting on plane

I was going to say the pitch seems pretty steep for a 90.. my 112 SPL Johnson was running a 15-17 for tubing/towing on a 16' Sylvan and hitting it's redline of about 4800rpm.... but your RPM's at WOT seem good (not sure what the rev limit is for the 4 stroke merc). Regardless... if you are...

    Boat keeps porpoising.

It will get on plane and flatten out; but only if I'm trimmed all the way down. You are correct; it's a new to me boat; and I've only been able to have it out a few times due to surgery. I'm wondering if it's somehow I have it loaded up. But yesterday it happened with just my wife and I and a...

    Boat keeps porpoising.

So, I’m enough months post op that I have been able to drive my 2016 Four Winns, with a 4.3 MPI. The issue I keep running into is that I can’t stop it from porpoising unless I am trimmed all the way down. Is this normal with the engine in the back?

2016 Mercruiser 4.3 MPI stalled while tubing; cranks but doesn't start

Please tell me that's cheap to fix. :) I replaced the shift cables on my old Sylvan, wasn't that big of a deal at all (it was humorous as when they went out I was stuck in reverse and had to reverse home...) But.... things were much easier to get to on the Sylvan.

2016 Mercruiser 4.3 MPI stalled while tubing; cranks but doesn't start

I have a multimeter I just bought but no idea how to use it. :) So, just so I'm clear: Deadman switch is attached to the Lanyard. Switch connects to the 'RUN' toggle. Problem here means engine cranks but doesn't start. NSS is connected to the actual throttle lever. Problem here means...

2016 Mercruiser 4.3 MPI stalled while tubing; cranks but doesn't start

So when I got the boat the previous owner would take the lanyard out of the dead man switch all the time. I started leaving it in, but the first couple starts I'd have to kind of press it in to get the engine to crank; otherwise it would act like a worn down battery (enough power to get the...

2016 Mercruiser 4.3 MPI stalled while tubing; cranks but doesn't start

Yes to the fuel pump and 2 beeps. I honestly don't know about the tach; I haven't looked at it while cranking. I'll check it out. Thank you!

2016 Mercruiser 4.3 MPI stalled while tubing; cranks but doesn't start

I just transitioned from a 112 Johnson SPL; I used to run that on the muffs all the time. Is it safe to run an engine as big as this on the muffs?

2016 Mercruiser 4.3 MPI stalled while tubing; cranks but doesn't start

It was. But the engine won't crank when it's tripped. I will double check though; this boat is new to me so hopefully it's something that simple.

2016 Mercruiser 4.3 MPI stalled while tubing; cranks but doesn't start

Yes. The way this engine cutoff works is if the lanyard isn't hooked in the engine won't even crank.

2016 Mercruiser 4.3 MPI stalled while tubing; cranks but doesn't start

I had replaced the battery earlier in the afternoon. Once I did it started fine. It was a little boggy off the initial holeshot but it was me and 7 kids (8th grade/sophomores) in my Four Winns H190 so I figured it was just weight. Towing hole shot was great. No problems starting after changing...

Bow riders with best engine access?

I went the other way, and I love my new boat. But... I couldn't agree more about the new OB's. The power they deliver is simply astounding. You get less swim platform room, but more room everywhere else. The only thing I don't know about is engine noise, but I suspect it isn't bad.

Pulling tubes from my ski eye.

Okay, how strong are tow eyes? My old Sylvan I used the two transom tie down loops on the back of the boat. I got in there and saw that they were heavily backed and the transom itself was pretty heavily attached, so I never worried. I now have a 2016 Four Winns H190, and I see the tow eye in...

What is this fluid reservoir on my 4.3 MPI?

I'm getting to know my '16 Four Winns with the 4.3 MPI. So far I love it. It's so much bigger than my 16' Sylvan, and the 4.3 has all the power I could want (I was worried I'd be missing a V8 in a bigger boat). I ordered some manuals online, and am trying to get to know the engine and hull, but...
