10 oz of plain water poured slowly into the carb will vaporize carbon deposits in the engine. Other than that check the timing and drop the idle some more and enrichen the idle mix. May have to get the tool or remove the anti-tamper device
have a mechanical that worked fine one day and flooded the next. no rhyme or reason. After a carb rebuild it worked that day and flooded the next.
Put a gauge on the pump and it was 14.5 psi . Abandoned it in place and installed the Carter type electric. No more problems.
Starting work on a leaker, anyone know the dimensions before I start cutting?
18 foot inline mercruiser 4 cylinder not the 470 type.
deck is carpeted, is that factory? Is there a tank hatch?
Damm , dyslexkia sucks, cant type those numers correctly .your correct on the TKS 5.0
Try using a remote tank to eliminate the fuel system. If you run good on the remote and you have checked the anti-syphon There may be another filter to remove.
according to your serial number you are a MPI motor . There is no carb on it.
Best guess is the fuel pump is not producing a constant 41 psi. Test the fuel pressure first
We guess its a carb model with the 5psi
throttle lever fully advanced
incorrect operator procedure
gross base gasket/intake manifold gasket
missing pvc hose
first pic is the oil pressure switch for the fuel pump, second pic is the oil pressure sender for the gauge. remove the blue wire, gauge should go to "0"
If so, your sender went bad. If no, a short to ground in the wiring at the helm or gauge itself
I user the existing bolt hole where the pump did go to install the electric pump there using the Carter style pump.Much cheaper than mercruiser.
The merc one uses the head bolt threaded holes to mount the bracket the pump slips into using the grommets. Using an electric pump the tell-tale hose...
Auto pumps are vented to the atmosphere, marine [umps vent to the carb so you dont blow yourself up. All mechanical pumps must be vented to operate the diaphram.
