    i have a j140tlcte 1983 model johnson the tach stoped working checked rectifier was bad so ordered one meanwhile i read to move the tach wire to the other yellow supply wire from stator tach worked while i waited on new rectifier can someone explain how this worked?:confused:

    johnson 140 hp spark

    i checked my spark on j140tlcte . the spark on all is really skinny it jumps 3/8 " but not 7/16 so good . top end runs good out of hole has about 3 little tics like a miss what if anything would u suggest i do or check thank you for any replies.

    Johnson 140 trim tab

    I have a 140tlcte on a 16ft bass boat,ranger 373v I think. While on plane if u let go of steering wheel , bow of boat goes starboard ,right turn , which way should I adjust the trim tab to correct problem. Also what things cause this to happen. Pulls right pretty hard. You can't really let go...

    does j140tlcte have a replaceable splined insert in bottom of crankshaft for the driveshaft to slide into, sure would be nice if worn out my shaft is worn, but not slipping.:joyous:

    rectifier disconected

    would it be a bad idea to disconnect a bad rectifier and run my boat . until i get a new rectifier. 1 to 2 wks. i have a 3 bank charger so no problem with keeping battery charged . j140tlcte 83 model. thanks for your help.also are the cdi regulator/rectifier durable and work good.:)

    i have a j140tlcte 83 model. i have put 2 retifiers on in 2 yrs , have not reversed battery terminals. any ideas on why they failed. also cdi has a combination rectifier / regulator , has anyone had experence with them. thanks for any responce.:joyous:
