EX Lube bearings on new to me trailer, how often to physically check bearings?

I have easy lubes as well. I'm a little OCD when it comes to the bearings so I actually pull everything apart each year to inspect the bearings and put fresh grease in at that point. In my opinion, if you don't check every year, you won't see the warning signs and something will fail at the...

    Trailer brake pad uneven wear

Thanks....I caught that after looking at kodiak's site... not sure why I missed what to lube in the first place 😖

    Trailer brake pad uneven wear

That's the other thing I realized this time....these calipers seem to slide on the caliper bolt sleeves within the rubber bushings. The caliper bolts seem to hold the sleeve in place against the bracket. I've been lubing the wrong part....needed to lube the sleeve in the bushing.

    Trailer brake pad uneven wear

I installed the Kodiak 225 brake kit about 3 years ago and only noticed this time around that the brake pads are wearing unevenly, I think. The outer pad is significantly thinner than the inner pad (one on the piston). I've always thought that both pads would wear down fairly evenly. I'm OCD...

First startup for the season and then died

That's why I get my fuel at more reputable places even though there is one station near me that sells it way cheaper which would be nicer on my wallet....but you got to wonder why it's so much cheaper than all the other stations around :) Thinking some more on this, it did seem like I had...

First startup for the season and then died

Yes, I put the stabilizer in on a full tank and go for a short run to burn the tank down so I have somewhere between 3/4 to 7/8 tank over the winter. If this is water, it would be a first as my winterization routine has been the same every year.

First startup for the season and then died

I have the cool fuel gen 3. I will check. Assume it is water, how do I get rid of it? I have an 80 gallon tank.

First startup for the season and then died

Not sure if you mean water in the tank? Fuel filter was replaced when I put the injectors back in.

First startup for the season and then died

    It's in my signature unless it's not showing. Anyways, it's a 2005 MX 6.2 MPI w/Bravo 3. It's under 300 hrs.

First startup for the season and then died

First engine start for the season. It started up and ran rough for a minute or two like it wanted to stall and then died. Now it won't restart. At times it sounds like it wants to but doesn't catch. During one start attempt, it made a pop/hiss sound and blew the IAC filter out of the...

    Fuel Injector Question

Next question because I can't seem to find the answer in the service manual. What kind of o-ring lube to use? I googled it and the answers are all over the place....use engine oil, ATF, silicone, vaseline. Which one is it?

    Fuel Injector Question

No need to worry now.....went back and looked and found them sitting in the port. Whew!

    Fuel Injector Question

I went to pull the fuel injectors so I could send them off to be cleaned. Since this is a 2005 boat, this is probably the first time they've been pulled and they gave me a little bit of a fight. Some of the injectors popped off the rail rather than out of the manifold so I hope I didn't do any...

How to get Navionics on a large screen at the Helm

You can get Navionics on Garmin. Garmin bought Navionics not too long ago. Also Lowrance supports Navionics. I've been using a Lowrance GPS for the last 5 years along with a Navionics subscription to keep the charts up to date. I love the sonar cartography.

    Battery charger size needed

I've been reading up on how to determine what size charger is needed. Some things I've read is to take the amp hour rating and multiply by 10%. Based on this, it looks like I would need a 20 amp charger (10 amps per channel - 2 batts). But then I've also read that I wouldn't need a 20 amp...

Fuel Pressure Regulator - Automotive equivalent

Why are some regulators way more expensive than others? For my engine (2005 6.2L MPI), 885174, it averages around $300. I know there have been many posts regarding the use of Merc parts versus the automotive equivalents. Is there an automotive equivalent for this regulator? I know there are...

Red lights above bilge blower switch

I don't have a fume detector or gen. This is a new issue I noticed this year and now I can't remember if both lights used to be on or off when the blower switch is on. I'll give Chap a call and see what they say.

Red lights above bilge blower switch

With my Chap 256 SSi, I have two red leds above the bilger blower switch. One of the leds is lit when I turn the switch on. At first I thought this was an indication that one of the blowers was not working but that is not the case as both blowers are operating. What's the wiring schematic...

Fuel Injector Boat vs. Auto Equivalent

Basically just asking the question. Just hearing/reading things where some folks take the automotive part route because it's way cheaper but I also recognize cheaper may not always be the right path to take.
