    Engine won’t crank 2007 Volvo d4-225-a/b

A couple things…is the gear shift lever in neutral? Do you have a kill lanyard hooked up to the ignition switch that isn’t seated properly? Battery cable connections may need to be tightened up…when not tight, instruments may still light up, but engine won’t start Question, has the engine...

Inherited a custom made wooden replica 1950's runabout WITHOUT an engine

My opinion, FWIW...the transom needs to be looked at and evaluated. Selling as is, is ok, but any potential buyer will have questions. OK, how much to fix? $? $$? or $$$? You can't put a value on the boat when the potential cost of the transom is a complete unknown.

    Penta 4.3 GL in saltwater?

Chances are very slim the heat exchanger is tucked away somewhere…almost always sitting on top of the engine. As far as flushing goes, when the boat is used pretty much daily, flushing is not nearly as important as when the boat is used sporadically. Salt water just sitting there for weeks at a...

    Penta 4.3 GL in saltwater?

Yes, Salt X is worth looking at. Flushing with the boat in the water is challenging...all depends on the boat. Are you planning on leaving the boat in the water all the time? How often will you put the boat on a trailer?

    Penta 4.3 GL in saltwater?

Sounds like you are a complete newbie. That being said, you need to take a boater safety class. Your state may require it and probably your insurance company as well. You can take these classes online, but I strongly suggest googling the US Power Squadron and/or the Coast Guard Aux. Both...

    Penta 4.3 GL in saltwater?

I could tell you what to look for, but it's easier to google Fresh Water Cooling (FWC) vs Raw Water Cooling (RWC). There are websites that have diagrams showing the 2. Probably dozens of YouTube videos as well. Main thing to look for is a steel cylinder (heat exchanger) sitting on top of the...

    Penta 4.3 GL in saltwater?

First of all, you may have closed cooling. Do you know how to tell the difference? As far as flushing, go to any boat supply store, even Walmart, and buy a pair of “earmuffs”. You put them on the outdrive, connect them to a water hose, turn on the water and then turn on the engine. Run the...

Deep cycle battries and standard car battries

All I have ever used are deep cell for both house and starting. 2 sailboats with small diesels and 3 motor yachts all with big block gas engines. Never had a problem with starting with deep cells. Everything I’ve read about the dual purpose…they‘re not great as either starting or deep purpose.

Why not go over to the carver yacht owners website and let them know what you have and see what kind of feedback you get

Core samples is a little overkill. Just a good sounding is all that is needed.

Google both organizations. They should list the chapters. If you can’t find a nearby class, you can take the boater safety class online. I just prefer actual classes over online ones

I’m guessing we won’t be hearing from the OP on this

Take an actual class, not online. You will get a lot more out of it. Some states require it as well as insurance companies before insuring a boat. After taking it, follow up with the Seamanship class that both the US Power Squadron and Coast Guard Aux offer.

Prop Size 33' Chris Cavalier 1966 Twin Chrysler 318

If you tell us where you are located, someone might be able to give you a suggestion for a prop shop. Best to take both in for evaluation/servicing. I took mine in a couple years ago for the first time since I’ve been boating…looked brand new when I picked them up.

Prop Size 33' Chris Cavalier 1966 Twin Chrysler 318

Not enough information to go on. What’s wrong with the prop and can it be fixed? Best bet, take it to a good prop shop for evaluation/advice
