    New Stuff on Vehicles likes/dislikes

I drove from Pa. to New Orleans and back in my new toyota Cross a few weeks ago. All safeguards were turned off except adaptive cruise, and it was set on the second to last sensitive setting. If someone abruptly pulls in front of me , it brakes. If a car is exiting off a ramp, it also sometimes...

    Survey

I was looking at a Sea Ray 240 a few years ago. Still kicking myself for passing on it. Anyway, the surveyor (recommended by someone on here) said about $1000. That included the driving.

not the point of this thread. As a matter of fact, saying it's easier working on a truck by raising the cab illustrates the point. It's harder for the DIY'er to work on cars today.

It's not a conspiracy when it's a fact. They don't want me fixing my own car. Decades ago the dealers had to be forced to make public TSB's.

"harder to work on" . Define harder. Today I need at least a bi-directional scanner. More plastic, plastic connectors, modules, modules, modules. Raising a cab? What DIY'er has truck cab raising facilities. My '77 Monte ....sockets, wrenches, hammer?, floor jack. I'll admit, could'a used a you...

I just stated that an autopilot does not make a good pilot. They had plenty of training. But they flunked private pilot training 101. Recognition of a stall. Period. Too much reliance on automation. yep...human pilot training. And the Airbus has no mechanical connections to any flight controls...

I could whip my '77 monte into a parallel spot between 2 cars faster than you could say, " you want what for a new 2025 tail light?"

never needed a blind spot device since 1969. Never crossed a lane and hit anyone. All these wonder devices that cost me money and still people are running into each other at a steady rate. A autopilot in a airplane does NOT make a good pilot.

yep. I don't go by re-sale blue book. A quick google showed a new replacement starts around $41,700. and depends on my DIY skills and replacement parts.

most of us , or some like me, posting on the original subject do not deny that these new "devices" perform better or smoother.....in the short haul. I look at it from a longevity, reliability issue for the long term. Also from a DIY repair capability. I don't trade in every 3,4,5 years. My...

I've had that braking quirk also. It happens more with in city driving. It also does it going around curves sometimes. Either it's reacting to parked cars or telephone poles? dunno. It would do it on hwy. driving with cars exiting but I was able to reduce the sensitivity which helped .

no...since you seem to know , show me. basically there are no accident statistics ,except for fatalities , that I can find. There seems to be rear-end collision stats, but not a comparison to the 70's....unless you find it. fatalities are down using equal measuring as to the highest period on...

there are more accidents today than yesteryear. There are less fatalities. Safer cars, yep, but a massive increase in inattentive drivers who just don't care and want to project their egos through their car. Tailgating is the rule. Cell phones get the attention. Practically every morning we...

No Center Attachment for Hauling onto the Trailer

eh...yeah, those don't take lateral loads at all. I do use mine for the anchor rode end tie. Using them for a tie down would be on a slant, at least on my trailer, as the rails meet to form a "Y" . Needs to be a center winch, install a bow eye, and have front rail stops.
