    A friend of mine bought this motor last Mar and says he can turn the trim tab straight back and to the left. Of course the boats pulling to the right. Is there some sort of stop on them?

    I've got my manifold with new reeds installed on very flat blocks (finally) and ready to bolt back on the motor. None of my 3 books say much about it so I am wondering if I should use any kind of sealer with the new gasket.

    Lock Tite?

    Which is the proper lock tite to use when re-assembling reeds? The red stuff or the blue? I believe the red is the semi-permament and the blue the removeable type.

    Are the prop shafts on a 1983 Merc 150 and a 1996 Merc 150 the same? Another words, are the props interchangeable?

    Friend of mine stopped by and was telling me the top cylinder on his 93 Evinrude 30hp runs rich to the point it starts missing. He said he replaced the top seal and rebuilt the carb. Compression is 125 in both cyl. Also stated he replaced the flywheel because he was told it was the wrong one...

    1983 Merc 150 When replacing reeds, should the reed blocks be replaced too. Or can they be resurfaced using 400 grit sandpaper on a piece of glass?

    Smart Tabs again

    I went to BPS today to get a set of smart tabs and got to thinking. (bad habit) On a typical fishing trip I only run my big motor 1/2 to 1 hour a trip. The rest of the day is on a trolling motor. Wouldn't those tabs act like air brakes on a jet airplane causing a lot more drain on my batteries...
