    Oil filter relocation kit

Ok, so I want to install a remote filter kit on my Mercruiser 4.3...my question is: why are there such huge discrepancies in the prices? Some are less than $50 (Summit Racing, for instance), while others are nudging $400! What gives? What do y'all recommend? Thanks!

    Reputable engine source?

Update: I emailed MM and gave them my mechanic's name/number to discuss the issue, as I was going to be asleep (I work night shift). Glad I did, 'cause as it turns out, the engine apparently has these stamped roller rockers that don't look like the "normal" type rollers (some of y'all may know...

    Reputable engine source?

Seriously?? They don't actually rebuild the engines themselves? Holy crap, so we may have received the exact same engine we sent back to Promar?!? Wow...

    Reputable engine source?

Sorry, it is 4300-RRR. And that's what I mean - the engine I ordered and paid for specified roller cams and roller lifters, so why would they send me one with flat tappets?? Do these manufacturers think we won't notice? Ugh!

    Reputable engine source?

Well crap...not having the best time with MM so far. After ordering and sending back an engine from Promar (sent me an engine with flat tappets instead of roller tappets), I ordered one from MM. Well guess what? They've done the same thing! I ordered the 4300-RR engine from them, and they send...

    Need advice

So does anyone know what year Mercruiser went metric with their 4.3s? As well as when they quit using flat tappets and went to roller tappets? Thanks!

    Need advice

I ordered one of their catalog engines (CH262M-04)...no difference in price...and they picked up both engines - the one they sent me, and my old one. Now they want $1100 to correct the issues.

    Need advice

Yes, that is the engine I ordered, paid the full price. After my mechanic called and told them the problem, they had both engines picked back up - the one they built and sent me, and the one out of my boat - no charge to me. But then they send me an email wanting an additional $1100 to correct...

    Need advice

I guess my bottom-line question is: should or should not a remanufacturer of marine engines have known, even without a block casting number, the proper engine I needed, since I provided them with all the info I stated in my original post of this thread? Weren't Mercruiser 4.3 engines using...

    Need advice

But I ordered a replacement engine for a 1999 4.3 engine. Surely that should've been a metric block and roller tappets? That's what I'm trying to figure out... I did tell them up front I could not provide a casting #, but gave my year, and other parameters (8 bolt intake, std rotation, no crank...

    Need advice

Ok, looking for advice (and want to vent!)... I ordered a reman engine for my 1999 Bryant from Promar the first week of June. We couldn't see the casting number, so I wound up ordering their "CH262M-04" unit - "1996-2000, 4.3liter standard rotation, 6 bolt t/c no crank sensor, 8 bolt intake...

    Severe backfire

Well, this is something that happened last year, and I've been curious since.

    Severe backfire

Question: what would be the cause if, after installing a new carb, on first crank it backfires so badly that it blows the intake gaskets? Thanks!

    Standard vs metric

Well, crap...mechanic said this whole engine package is wrong...more suitable for an '80s hotrod S-10 than a boat engine. Non-roller tappets (flat tappets)...? So...he's sending both engines to them...mine with cracked block, and the one they built for me. Ugh!

    Standard vs metric

Ok, so I ordered a remanufactured engine from Promar a while back (4.3 Mercruiser, carb). We couldn't give them a casting # off the block, so we told them 8 bolt intake, no crank-sensor... Well, my mechanic tells me today that the new engine is all "standard", while my old engine (cracked head...

    Launching/retrieving with FWD

I'm late to the party, but fwiw, i used to tow boat/trailer (~3200 lbs) with a FWD Mazda Tribute (towing capacity 3500 lbs) with no issues whatsoever.

    Bimini base

Ok, this thingy is where my back post goes when the bimini top is deployed - just slides in here. But it just doesn't look right to me...what is it supposed to look like? Thanks!

    Reputable engine source?

So where do y'all recommend to purchase a remanufactured engine? I need a new engine (4.3 Mercruiser). I've heard of Promar and Jasper...any others with good reputations? Thanks!

    4.3 Chevy

No, the engine ran great all summer, cranked and idled fine once towed back to the dock, and the same 'til I took it to him.
