And I concur with Matt. I've been in the tire business 49 years. We sell a lot of Carlisle radial trail hd. Most failures are user related, i.e. Under inflation or over loading.
The higher load range can run a higher pressure. That is what it enables it to carry more. So instead of running the max psi on a LR D you can run a lower pressure. There are load charts available. I will see if I can find one and link it.
It looks like you have load range C tires. My wholesale cost for a load range D is less than $5 more. I would consider upgrading to a tire with more total capacity (or run less pressure) for a few bucks more.
Originally a 351 auto. When I got the car it had a 302 which is an incorrect engine for a Mach. I wanted a 428 but too cheap to pony up for one. I SHOULD have bought a 390 or at least a 351. But instead we rebuilt the 302 and it's fairly strong. Not krazee but strong. 4 speed top leader...
