    Did you break into the wiring and fix this? I’m in the same boat, on my 850, with wires frayed and sheared at the distributor exit. Thinking that if I melted away the black “stuff” (wax?), I could connect new leads rather than buying a new part or waiting for my Geri-rig to fail. Thanks. Gary
