    All looper motors since1992 has this 1/8" hole right at the exhaust port. It is a idle relief port and drops compression about 10psi at idle. Compression will build back at speed. Us performance guys tap and plug it with a allen screw and then stake aluminum around it to prevent it from backing...

    They never made a low compression motor..just low compression heads. Powerhead is mechanically the same between commercial and recreational motors. Also no covers to remove for inspection

    If you use NGK the correct ones are BPZ8HS-10 and Champion is QL78YC. Which 3 plugs are not firing as motor has a ignition cutout switch?

    The Merosil block does NOT like to run hot as it starts to shed silica which scores the cylinders. If you lugged engine while pulling boat you could have damaged cylinders or lost a exhaust plate gasket, which would allow water in cylinder and hydrolock it. Either is bad

    Ahhhhh...it a dealer warranty as they dressed out the new powerhead. Just moved the problem from original to the new. If it a mechanical issue Merc or a reputable reman company will have to warranty it.

    Even if its NOS at a dealer, warranty begins when sold unless dealer/MFG policy's have changed over the years.

    Are the rockers installed and correctly torqued? These are non adjustable!

    If the rect.reg has a purple wire , make sure you have battery voltage on it with key on. as this turns rect/reg on to operate

    Most likely cause was the idle stablizer/advance box. Chunk it and set max timing at 21°. A single cylinder running lean is a timing/fuel (carb) problem

    More likely its bad stator, flip the brown connectors from stator to oppisite sides

    Its only a 16amp output @ 5K RPM, 1/2 that at 2500 (8amp) and 1/2 that at above idle RPM (4 amp) and the new style rect/reg will charge slower at lower RPMS.

    The small bores where briged port engines and bad about scuffing exhaust side of piston. Tis resulted in low crankcase compression to drive fuel pump and pull a smaller F/A mix. Also your carbs are fixed jet so no adjustments

    You have a 2003 White Johnson and only powerhead parts from 2001-2006 60° carb engines will fit. 1991 and up V6 gearcases will interchange with a driveshaft/shift rod swap
