    You can see the purple wire I should have been checking in the back. The red wire that is coming off the same lead goes to the warning squealer.

    I was today years old when I learned (I) is for ignition. 🤦‍♂️ Been testing the wrong lead. The A connection also has a purple wire but it’s purple/red. The (I) connection almost looks maroon but either way I’m a dumbass and back to checking connections and grounds.

    Yeah. Every wire except the purple has or gets 12 volts when the key is turned to start. To further clarify, every single wire is disconnected except the power.

    To clarify. The supply wire never loses power. The tab where the purple wire is supposed to be connected is what loses power when the key is turned to start

    New switch same problem. I have every wire disconnected except red/purple supply. Turning key to start results in zero voltage at the purple wire tab. So this either means the new switch is junk or it’s not supposed to be supplying power to that wire during cranking

    Ok. I get it now. I’m so used to black and white I think all the colors were scrambling my brain. But it’s a switch so I need to check both sides, which I have now done. The supply on the ignition maintains 12 volts while cranking the purple wire does not.

    I did pull the connector. There is no corrosion of any kind. It looks brand new. For some context this boat has spent most of its life in a garage that never gets below freezing in the winter.     10 pin engine connector visually looks immaculate. Not sure how or what to check with volt meter.

    What’s the voltage drop test that I haven’t done. Where else am I checking it? Is there something between the ignition switch and the coil? I was assuming it was the same purple wire between ignition switch and coil which was telling me the switch was bad.

    I checked at the coil already. I thought that was why they had me check the ignition switch. 12V with key on 4V while cranking. What is the resistance across connections supposed to be?

    I did check battery with volt meter while cranking but no load test other than that. I only have an analog volt meter but it did not go below 11 volts

    12 volts at purple wire with key on goes down to nothing while cranking. Seems like a problem.

    No fuel injection on this model but I think it was available at the time. My issue is for sure spark not fuel.

    This all started when the boat was running. Everything was going great until it wasn’t. Still think ignition switch? It’s easy enough to check and I will just thought that info might help point a direction. It was like I ran out of gas.

    Very significant voltage drop at the + terminal of the coil when cranking. Good for a second or 2 then falls to about 4 volts. I don’t understand the system well enough to know what that means. Bad coil I would guess. I did same test on the battery and did not see voltage drop off like that.

    It is a Quicksilver with 3 wires. Looks identical to the one I took out. I will check the voltage.
