    My friend has a 79 140 Johnson and the power tilt and trim stopped working the motor runs fine but it will not raise the motor or lower the motor we can use the bypass screw to raise it and lower any help would be greatly appreciated

    I guess to fix what I have messed up but live and learn I bought this motor for parts I have a J140tlcte a local guy rebuild it sent block to tenn put 4 new wiseco pistons in it bout 10years now still doing good so thanks guys I really appreciate what you do on here

    If you tear a motor like this and replace a piston do you have to re- time the motor after u put it back together

    ii would at least take carb apart and clean maybe spray little premix fuel in carb while running to see if it makes any difference adjust mixture screw back where it was good luck

    just so u know an automotive key switch will not work on a boat hope this helps
