    check out utubes on shift rod seal removal.. simpy use a tap and make threads in the brass bushing then just pull it with a lenght of threaded rod and boltout see video See T mike solution alternative. very simple if you do not have the tool to do it

    don't forget key posts must have 0 ohm (short) M to M when OFF !! if grounds and wiring is ok same goes for laynyard switch... to kill it must short out M wires unlikely both functions would be bad but....murphy lurks.

    as an additionnal comment if new to ETECs you should consider acquiring EV DIAGNOSTIC software run on a W10 laptop ( a refurbished not expensive model with USB ports) . EV diag is a must if you plan to pick your EMM ecu brain for any future problems .Ev diag allows tou to see all problem...

    from years back seems I had an 11 incher on my Merc 50 and it did rev high so that prop was my sky prop and 13 was my regular prop. If you have a tach just run it at wot no more... ( check your specs for WOT...)

    carefully inspect crimps which sometimes lok OK but oxydize... measure ohms continuity to eliminate if all OK looks like the RR is defective if AC up to you to change or not. link output to battery via solenoid B+ post from the battery

    check RR part for OEM# .. 25VAC may turn out as a high DC if not regulated !! check for proper grounding of RR........... and proper continuity between rr and strip post... red wire from RR looks frayed ???

    usually stator yellows (2) feed the rectifier-regulator and the fat red RR output goes to the solenoid "B+ in post" from the battery so the charge current from the RR can return to the battery to charge it. got the wiring diagram ?? see example... does yout T&T work if u have T&T...

    the 2005 version of an ETEC as a direct oil feed into the incoming fuel line for purpose of mixing in ..."some " X100 oil with Carbon gard. you could always mix some in say 100/1 in your fuel supply or look at Evinrude products to mix in the fuel . Some folks like SEAFOAM (see utubes)...

    if you feel the top idle channel welch plug is sucking air a dab of clear nail polish or float airplane dope should stop any air leaks . check for a clean feed route to the top drip chamber
