Brings back bad memories. I wasn’t allowed to leave the table until I ate everything on the plate/bowel or it was straight to bed. I hated bean soups. I always knew it was going to be an early night when I smelled bean soup or Lima beans.
I can relate, for me it was 5hit on a shingle..!

My youngest sent me a picture of the Ham and Bean soup she made yesterday with rivels in it! When I asked her about it her comment was, "I wanted all the goodies!" Then she laughed and said she ran out of beans so the broth to goodies ratio wasn't right. Rivels were the easiest, quickest, and yummiest thing she could think of at the time to make it work ... and she said it was a success!

Yeah , my Mrs can be a bit of a tyrant too :LOL:
but seriously my Mothers porridge was like lumpy spew ........and it only got worse as it cooled , but if we ( 3 boys ) held off long enough we eventually had to go to school.
My Dad made our dining table ( did not to bad a job .....for a lawyer ) and there were places where you could stash anything unpalatable.....I remember one day Mum moved the table and all these bits of mouldy food fell out ..... yeah , we used to play hide and seek a lot when she went psycho .:D bloody dog would give us up most times
