new vinyl and possible layout change

been almost exactly a year since we decided on new colors to replace our very degraded seats but life happens and next week i get a small hernia taken care of so i'm on light duty for a few weeks and thought it would be a perfect time to get that part taken care of. Took everything out yesterday except the seat bolster over the front seat. After I got all twisted in place on the floor with the screwgun, turns out it is bolted so need a box wrench. That is on todays list.

This morning i was looking at some old catalouges for another thread and noticed mariners in '71 have a curved casting deck then the star trek had some additional seating(?) in them - both the 16 and the 18, the latter being same size as my boat.

i had planned to try to add some flip up seats or something, mainly for me to nap while i'm out for the day or the few times AC is with me she can do the girl thing and lay out for suntan.

So this thread will be about all that. Sit back and prepare to be bored...

i'm thinking a side to side flip up in the back to cover the stuffs under the splashwell and/or in from of the livewell/front seat plus one to join it from the front casting deck.

from the vinyl standpoint, i will be doing myself - no fancy stitching or edging just stapled on - any tips?

hit the wood with OTF


radius the substrate edges you will be wrapping.
get new foam
2 mill painters plastic sheeting is great between the foam and vinyl to allow it to move about as you are upholstering

work in the sun, let the sun warm the vinyl, it will be pliable and stretch bette.
