I just bought a 2025 Bayliner VR5 with the 200hp 4.5L Mercruiser, - many issues - Low power, BARELY pulls me up slalom

1. Won't go over 10mph at 3200 rpm,,,, ..Bayliner took it back to factory saying the p!atform wasn't caluked properly and is filling with water at !ow speeds

2. Stalls while idling

not getting a new boat they are simply repairing the old one (caulking) the platform where it was missed during manufacturing.....trying to force them to keep it.. too many issues.

yes..... it has.. no issues with fuel pump, filter or lines.. pressure is normal range.

i did... dealer has been great.... but its a lemon....and i'm done with it... aren't boats supposed to be reliable? had no idea a new boat would be riddled with issues.... is this common?

Boats are the cheapest assembly of parts tossed together and slapped out the door, sold at a profit and the manufacturer hopes they make it through the warranty period. Some are lemons, some are gems, most are ok. They all rely on maintenance and care

Stalling while idling doesn't have anything to do with the swim platform issue, that is a boat fuel system problem or a Mercruiser EFI problem. Modern EFI is usually pretty trouble free so I'd be checking the fuel system from the fuel filter back to the tank (on in this case ask them if they've done that). All it takes is a clogged anti siphon valve (manufacturing debris) or pick up tube (same) and there you are.
The problem with boats is that they are made of parts from many vendors, in this case you have Mercruiser's engine/drive and Bayliner's assembly of the rest of the fuel system (tank, fuel lines) etc. Not like buying a modern mass produced car at all.
