Did any of you good people do this? Did you put a splash well in front of the engine? Was it a good change? Would you do it again?
Any reports or opinions are highly welcome, because I am going back and forth on the subject

Don't need a splash well unless you have an open transom

Going back and forth between changing to outboard or not, or selling and replacing with an outboard powered rig were just too many potential buyers remorse things to deal with.
So for now, changing from I/O to outboard is off the books. The transom is replaced , the aluminum stern is nicely painted on the outside and the marine plywood is sealed with four layers of west 105 on the entire surface. All the hardware is back in place and the kicker bracket is put back. just some small stuff like the fish finders need to be put back on. Then the motor and the wiring and hopefully by the end of the week she will splash.
The harbor freight Gantry Crane was a great investment and it made everything easy to do.
Now if that old Cobra decides to go bad, I will be a lot clearer with what I want and it will be an outboard powered rig. That is it for this thread.
