Howdy All,
I have a 1974 70 HP Evinrude (70442M). Works great but looking to add the ability to charge batteries while under way. I see that I can purchase a kit that comes with a new stator, rectifier, and voltage regulator. Only issue I have is I don't know how to install it. Stator/Rectifier I think is straight forward, the voltage regulator though I am unsure of placement or wiring. My Evinrude Manual doesn't show/provide any guidance on the charge system option since its aftermarket.

Any pictures showing currently working/installed system would be appreciated or a manual/installation guide would be awesome.

Thanks in advance

They all left the factory with the battery charging system.----Have you done any testing to see if anything is wrong with yours ??

your engine should have 2 yellow wires connected to this rectifier which will charge your battery !! ...usually wired back to the main incoming B+ post on the solenoid (see the fat red cable another one to a fuse) .

Thanks all
I was under the impression it was an aftermarket mod because of the voltage regulator. I will have to test it when I pull the boat out again. Any reason why the kit has a voltage regulator (581307) vs what is already common on the engine?

Thanks,
