I have been trying to time my 70' merc 80hp motor. I can't seem to get the timing mark up to 23 degrees BTC to set the max spark advance. The fly wheel only goes on one way, the distributor pulley with the timing arrow only goes on one way, and I have it lined up with the dots on the fly...
My 80hp outboard is occasionally shutting down when going at high speed. Then when trying to restart, it acts like the battery is dead. Then sometimes it will turn over and fire up. Could a bad stator create a condition like this?
When testing this out on land and the engine quits on its own...
I had my boat out yesterday, and under full power, the engine just shut down.
Fortunately, no one was hurt!
The engine restarted OK.
I was wondering what might have caused this.
I have disconnected the Mercury switch.
The internal wires are in poor shape, so I've just ordered a new internal...
I have a Bass Pro Prowler bow mounted trolling motor with 50# thrust and foot controls.
It has variable speeds and I am having major electrical issues with it.
Is there anyone out there that might have access to an electrical schematic for it?
Or, perhaps one that would be similar to it.
