I can crank it and make it run at about 3000 -4000 rpm but cannot figure out how to make it idle right. It will idle a second and then sputter out. I've adjusted the idle screw..... Nothing. Help!!!
I have a problem. I cannot figure out where the tell tale is supposed to come out of my engine. The place where it is supposed to be hooked up is not, and before I install a new water pump impeller and hose to the tell tale, I would like to check for dauber nests or trash.

I have what I believe to be a 74 or 75 mercury 500 50hp. I got it and a boat on trade, and can't seem to figure out the proper wiring, more specifically the kill switch. On my switchbox, there are 5 terminals. The second one from the top has only 1 wire connected, could that be the problem...
