Have an early 80's merc 7.5 and it seems to start fairly easy and run fair once it is warmed up. I do however have to run it for about 10 min or so before it will run good. It runs for about 7 seconds and then just about dies but then picks right back up and does the same thing again. It seems...
I pulled the bottom of the leg off on a 82-83 merc 7.5 and I can not seem to get it back in right. If the shifter is in Neutral it goes forward and if it is in reverse I go to neutral. After this has been messed up what is the best way to get it lined up proper again.

I was just looking at the engine specs for a early 80's 7.5 and see that the 9.8 has the same displacement. What is the diff if the engines have the same size? thanks
