    merc 7.5 almost dies then goes again??

    how do I get reverse back?

    I pulled the bottom of the leg off on a 82-83 merc 7.5 and I can not seem to get it back in right. If the shifter is in Neutral it goes forward and if it is in reverse I go to neutral. After this has been messed up what is the best way to get it lined up proper again. THANKS
