    Transom

I understand sentimental value. Still skiing behind the boat me and my wife had our first date on in 1982. It's a 1981 Sea Sprite. She's a "old boat' but she's our old boat. Will get comments every once in awhile "My _____had a boat just like yours." Makes us smile every time. No plans to get...

1985 Mercury Tower of Power 115 high rpm miss

Thanks, jimmbo. I will certainly look at mine more closely, heck, they might not be connected, and I have never noticed. I certainly don't have 15k for a new engine nor the time to have it rebuilt, if that would even be possible in today's world.

1985 Mercury Tower of Power 115 high rpm miss

I have a 1986 90hp tower of power, been dealing with the same problem for the past month. My RPM's were falling off at WOT. Would be running 4500 RPM's then just drop off to 3500/3700 RPM's. Never felt a miss, just lose power. Pull the throttle back and it would run great. I thought that the...

    Boat Names

Me and my wife had our first (blind) date to go waterskiing on my dad's boat 40 years ago. We've owned it for the last 32 years and still in use every weekend. Needless to say, its name is "First Date."

    Fuel Leak, center carb

Thanks Chris1956, I thought that it was the brass plug on the front of the carb so went ahead and replaced the gasket it first, but still leaked, that's when I purchased a new slotted plug. I wrapped the threads with yellow Teflon tape. Did a lot of research first before I did the wrapping. All...

    Fuel Leak, center carb

Thanks, I ended up pulling the carb off, could not get a good grip on screw driver to check tightness. It was tight. It did not have anything on it. Bought a OEM plug and gasket off Ebay and will reassemble this weekend with Permatex. Thanks again for the help

    Fuel Leak, center carb

I've got a 90hp Tower of Power serial number 6571331 that the center carb is leaking (dripping) fuel out the at the Plug that goes to the Main Fuel Nozzle. Any ideas why all of a sudden?? Is there a way to fix it without taking carbs off? I have tried to see it it had loosened up, seems tight to...

    It's time, advice...

AWESOME!!!! At work so can't see your video (blocked), BUT will for sure be checking it out when I get back to the house. Soon enough you will be feeling more comfortable, and be crossing wakes and getting crazy. Congrats on getting up, that is the hardest part.

    It's time, advice...

We always tell learners to let the boat do the work. You will get up, it's staying up the first time that's the challenge. You got this!! I learned to ski in the Poquoson River wearing long jeans and a sweat shirt so the jelly fish wouldn't sting me. Fun times. Ditto to what everyone else has...

Can 1150 merc 16' pull me up

I agree with everything said. I only put between 24 and 30 hours on mine per year and yes I have an hour meter to keep track. ALWAYS run ethanol free fuel, and change the impeller every two years. I have a mechanic that is old school and I dread the day he quits working. With that being said, if...

Can 1150 merc 16' pull me up

I ski behind a 16' V-hull with a 1986 model 90hp (Tower of Power) and have no trouble. It will pull between 32 and 36 mph depending on water conditions.

    Engine hours.

I have been averaging 24hrs a year for the past five years. So when I put the boat up for he season yesterday I check and had only put 20hrs on it this year. I was somewhat disappointed. With a job change and having to start working weekends my boating time has taken a hit. The first mate and...
