Ok y'all, let me see if I can explain this so that it makes sense.
When starting my '77 Johson 140hp outboard, I typically lift the choke, turn the key, and start the motor... simple.
Sometimes the motor starts, I depress the choke lever, and the motor dies so I have to go through the process...

I have a '77 johnson 140hp outboard that starts and runs great, the only problem that I have been having is when switching from neutral to forward/reverse. Let me see if I can explain it well enough!
When in idle position, I move the throttle just out of the neutral position I hear what sounds...
I have a 1977 Johnson 140 hp outboard, I went to change the gear lube in the lower unit and when I drained it, it came out as a dark opaque gray color.
I don't remember the last time I changed it,it's been a while, but is this normal? If not what could be causing this?

I've been having some problems with over heating and I read about something called a lower unit impeller.
What does the impeller in the lower unit do?

Unfortunately some old gas was left in the tank for a while and it started to get rusty.
Is there somewhere I can go to get a new tank or can I some how reseal the one that I already have?
