    1989 omc cobra gear case problem

    Check the shift interupt switch. make sure its activating correctly. I've had to slightly bend the switch arm on a couple boats over the years to get it to hit correctly shifting.

    Once I was able to get it scanned,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, today. they replaced the map sensor and cleared the old codes. 35 min in and out it was done/ its been tough waiting 19 days for what you know will take 15 min to fix . 700 or so for a scanner of my own doesn't...

    i just checked all connectors and all looks good. fuel draws out of the tank easy enough with a hand pump attached to the line before the filter, so its not a check ball problem. i started it again several times after going over this stuff and its the same. primes to 40ish, starts normally...

    You know, i DID replace the dash this spring, so i had much of the wiring apart. i took many pictures and put it back the same way and re checked it over and over. could i have screwed something up there i wonder? EVERYTHING looks to be working fine there. all lights ect..

    its got a new fuel pump/cooler, press. regulator and the iac unit. yep, i need to do a voltage test at the pump and see whats going on there. it seems t shut off, as it drops off right after starting. its got a recent pick up in the tank and a new water/fuel separator not sure if it...

    i just this morning had time to get back to it. i reinstalled the fuel pressure tester at the rail shrader valve and started it. it starts okat abot 40 and then fuel pressure drops to 30psi and it quits. re start, same thing. no vacume to call for fuel?? as i mentioned the old AND new...

    yes the filter WAS pretty dirty even down into it a bit. I pulled it. as far as pressure maintaining 40 I will check that again tomorrow. I left the gauge on for a couple of hours today while I was running errands and it dropped to about 31 from 38. that didn't seem terrible for 2...

    Yes I need to have it scanned for sure. I replaced the iac module and it iis better. it still stalls out and needed to be re started and revved a little, then it tryyys to idle. I got my hand near the open intake and cut a little air entering the TB, it stalled immediately. it did idle...

    Thank you for the link. I'm tryyyying to make it to Boston for "sail 250" this weekend so I'm trying the Ford part today. from all I've read its identical. ? much like the fuel volume control valve the NR-1 is used in many applications and not 200$ thru auto parts dealers.

    I just removed the IAC module, its pretty spotless inside. when I turn the key on while its plugged in holding the valve, it does NOT move at all. there iS power getting to it. this motor has about 100 hrs at most

    yes it is mechanical although the parts look up pages I use(merc) shows a second fuel pump near the filter, for serial # over 330000 this does not have one. just the cool fuel pump.
