Hi,
I have a 1979 Champion 16' trihull boat with a 1978 Mercury 70hp. In the last 3 times I've taken it out, the steering to the right of center has become increasingly worse. Steering to the left is fine and from left back to center is fine. If I start turning to the right, it becomes very...
good grief.
when its to cold to boat, i hardly get on iboats. everything looks different from last time i was on here. if we could just get a "warm snap" one weekend to get on the water, that would satisfy my cravings until spring... i think.
anybody else feel the same?

well i was going to start off by posting a picture file of the mercontrol diagram but photobucket downsized it too small to see anything. so instead, here's a link to another thread that has a good quality copy attached. its about 12 posts down...
i started posting about this problem in another thread, but the original topic of that post ended up not being the problem. here's the link to that thread for reference...

i'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes.
i haven't been able to access the iboats store website since about 10am yesterday. i was in the middle of trying to buy some parts when it decided not to work anymore. i closed my browser, reopened it and tried to go back and it...
iboats web store list two fuel pump kits with the range of serial numbers that mine falls under. i called the help line, the customer service guy called sierra (manufacturer of both different fuel pump kit part numbers), and the end result was that there were two different fuel pump styles for...
I did a quick search of the forum to see if a thread of this nature already existed and I didn't find it. Someone let me know if I missed it please...
I got the idea from the iboats facebook post this morning. It showed a terrific pic and was captioned, "How was your weekend? Anyone take any...
i have a 16' tri-hull boat with a '78 mercury 70hp thunderbolt (see pic below). no matter whether i have 1, 2 or 3 people in the boat, my top speed is always 35mph. someone suggested to me that it may mean i could stand to have a prop designed more for speed and that my current prop is putting...
well, here's the beginning of the journey...
i have a 1979 Champion Python 16' Tri-hull with a '78 Mercury 700 Thunderbolt. I picked the boat up in october 2009 sort of by way of inheritance. the only condition was that i drive from South Mississippi to St. Louis, Missouri to get it... sight...
i was flipping through the overton's catalog today and noticed a wide variety of prices on the various ski ropes. can anyone explain to my why i should buy an 80 dollar rope instead of a 30 dollar rope.
to be honest, i already bought the 30 dollar rope from airhead (i think). so did i mess...
i'm replacing the seating in my boat and am facing a dilemma. i would like to buy a non-power adjustable pedestal for my front butt seat as i have read countless reviews saying the hydraulic lift goes out after 2 years or so. the one i have in mind is...
i have a '78 thunderbolt 700 with a manual pump hydraulic trim. most people i mention this to or show it to either have no idea what i'm talking about or have a nostalgic moment and say something like, "wow! haven't seen one of those in years!" from what i understand, this particular...
SUCCESSFUL FIRST EARLY SEASON CRANK
I noticed one day last week that it'd been about 2 months since my last post, so i thought i'd 're-activate' myself. I suppose that since i haven't used my boat in a while i just haven't thought much about iboats either.
Saturday was a fluke warm day with...
i feel stupid even asking this, but would someone mind posting a pic or good description of where the idle adjustment screw is located? i have a 1978 70hp merc thunderbolt. i had the carbs cleaned by a boat mech buddy and i'm thinking he set the idle too high at 3 full turns out he said. my...
