Just makes me wonder how much pressure it takes to get the coupler to fail. I'm still debating if I am going to go the grave yard and get a new uper unit, send this one to rebuild or just get a new one.
Has anyone ever seen a twisted drive shaft but the coupler didn't fail? Alpha 1 gen 1.Was cruising yesterday about 3200rpm and suddenly the boat came to stop and the engine died like right now. 4.3l 205, would not crank at all after, I would get maybe a 1/8th turn and it would stop like the...
Well it went great! Once she was good and warm the oil pressure at idle was 40-43 psi. Got her up to 4200rpm and the oil pressure stayed under 75psi. She got up on plane with no hesitation, sounded great through the spectrum of rpm I was up and down.
So I'm gonna say the solution was swapping...
They said they always send them with all their engines but nothing on the pressure. The discussion was focused on that I installed a standard flow pump and those numbers.
The almost finished product, I have to get the tower and its attachments on, make a hatch for the step down for the cuddy and a few other things, but it is going to get its first water test this weekend.
I used 1/2 inch marine ply to make the swim deck. I cut down a 8x4 sheet and then laminated them together giving me a 8ft by 24inch by 1 inch thick base. I cut into my desired shape. I added some slots in it to be used as handles for the latter to make getting up on it easier. I mirrored it on...
I found that my original pedestals for my seats are dramatically lower then what I made the rest of the seats so instead of spending $150+ on new higher ones (the prices for them are ridiculous) I took some measurements and found metal tubbing that fit perfectly in the tube of the pedestal...
I made a removable floor matt, I am not sure how well its going to hold up. I wasn't able to find a source for the backing in wanted for the matt. I really wanted like an 1/8inch thick rubber backing that was smooth on both sides but all I could find had different grip patterns on them like...
few updates being spread over a few posts. The first I added a quick disconnect panel for the cables running through my wakeboard tower for the lights and speakers. I purchased the plugs and bulk head connectors from Amazon. The large black ones are for the speakers, I used the same type at the...
So i just got off the phone with an ATK tech and we had a pretty lengthy conversation, covered all of my numbers between the standard and HV pumps and I got the green light to run her. We discussed bearing tolerances and he looked up some specs for the rebuild and says there should be no issues...
Well the 4.3l 205 Merc manual #7 lists only a min oil pressure at idle of 4psi and an oil pressure at 2k rpm at between 35 and 55 psi. So I'm only 10 psi off from the only firm spec they give. I'm more comfortable with that then I was with my readings with the high volume pump that the block...
I know one thing for sure I do not want to ever have to pull the lower end apart while it's still in the boat again lol. I made the bilge bigger to allow more access to the lower end but man are my arms scratched up and sore.
