Looking at buying a 2006 Bayliner Cierra 2455 that has seen better days at auction with an eye to restore it. Not sure what to look for.

$50. Salvage the metals, scrap the hull, sell the trailer. That is if it doesn't cost more $100 to scrap the hull.

Restoring a trailer vs replacing a trailer

I did a search on the Shoreland'r web site (Not Shoreline) and the closest I could find was the R1817 roller trailer that used 2x3 frame tube and 3x3 tongue tube with P155 80D 13 LR C tires. (Or B78 13 depending on year.) Anything bigger used 2x4 frame tube. That model is rated for up to #1700...

Restoring a trailer vs replacing a trailer

Sorry, misread the manufacturer. I "guess" then what will matter is the size of the frame tube and it's wall thickness. My 1995 Escort trailer which held a 19' 5"? (20' Bayliner 1950) has 14" tires and it's wall thickness is 9 Ga opposed to the Shoreland'r's 12 Ga (11 Ga tongue) which held...

Restoring a trailer vs replacing a trailer

Single axle Shorelandr trailers come with a 3x4 or 3x5 tube rails. My 18Ft SeaRay has 3x5 tube and originally came with C-78X13 (ST185 80D 13) tires. (Boat approximately 2800? Lbs. SRV1724 trailer) It has a 3000 Lb axle. If your boat is around the same weight and is 3x4 tube (12 inch tires?) I...

    Transom straps

I just bought a used 2 speed Profile 2000 (D-L 1800) winch for my soon to be resurrected 1988 Shoreland'r R1824. Almost 70 and too cheap to buy a power winch.

Alpha 1 gen 2 lower unit (gear housing) drive shaft removal

Correction. Bearing part number is a M84549. Race is still the same.

Alpha 1 gen 2 lower unit (gear housing) drive shaft removal

Bought the boat with bad outdrive. Completely repaired upper half, including the upper housing, removed the lower bearing carrier, flushed the lower about ten times with with mineral spirits, (all bearings rotated trying to dislodge any metal) reassembled the complete drive and installed it on...

Alpha 1 gen 2 lower unit (gear housing) drive shaft removal

Yes. I bought the boat with a bad outdrive. I replaced the upper gear set and all the bearings plus the reverse gear bearings, the upper housing as the metal from the gears getting destroyed ground away the inside making it difficult to drive in the lower race. (Warped housing?) I flushed the...

Alpha 1 gen 2 lower unit (gear housing) drive shaft removal

I've the lower half apart again to remove/ clean out metal bits that weren't removed by flushing and changing the gear oil. (Just tried the flush with mineral spirits initially. Didn't work.) To be safe I tore into the lower unit to inspect. I was able to use a 22MM open end wrench along with...

Thinking about an upgrade for the tow vehicle

7.3L ford was a decent engine just make sure the oil pan isn't rusty or the rear main isn't leaking. Finding a truck with a decent body is going to be the real issue.

Trailer brake lights on but brake pedal not depressed.

The only thing I can think to offer is to power the boats taillights directly off a 12 volt battery and see what happens. You might want to use an inline fuse just in case.

Preloading without the rolling dial torque wrench

New bearings and races used to repair my A1G2 and the rolling torque varied 1 to 1.5 inch/lb. They were lubricated as well. Shim depth should not change when replacing seals and or bearings. It can't hurt to double check if you have the proper tool(s).

    Trailer bearing frustration

I'd start by measuring and comparing to what is on the left side. Bearing race depths, seal dimensions etc. I had a 1982 bronco that kept engaging the auto-lock hub on one side. It ended up being the snap ring groove was machined at the incorrect depth. Replaced the offending hub and never...

    Boat Names

I chided a friend about a boat he bought that was yellow. I told him he should name it Peedon.

    Trailer Manufacture Name?

Just looked at a Bayliner single axle trailer on FB marketplace and it uses the same galvanized fender brackets on the front as yours does. My Escort single is for a 1995 Bayliner Capri...
