    I/o or outboard? Rotary or rack? Power steering? You can certainly grease a rotary or rack system for an outboard. Can't do anything with the cable. If its binding, its time to replace it. I/o and power steering systems can be a bit more involved.

    I used a cheap pair of block n tackle on the garage rafters. Another time, swapped out trailers in a parking lot - one tree. Rope on the transom to pull it off onto 2 tires. One rope over a tree limb to hold the bow up. Another time or 3, I dumped it on the lawn.

    Write the numbers inside your owners manual. Mine even has a page dedicated tfor writing down this info. Take a couple photos of it. Maybe print the photo and stick it in your owners manual, or tape it inside the cowl. Not rocket surgery.
